BREAKING NEWS: Prisoner threatens to kill Guyana’s President

(NEWS ROOM GUYANA) – The Guyana Police Force on Thursday, November 23, 2017, confirmed that it is investigating a threat to the life of President David Granger and members of the Police Force by an inmate of the Lusignan Prisons.
The threat was made on Sunday, November 19, via a telephone call from a mobile device from within the walls of the prisons to 911. The person who reportedly made the call has been identified as Alim Ally, who was convicted of assault and has been a guest of the state since June 27, 2017.

Commissioner of Police (ag), David Ramnarine told the media today, November 23, that significant progress has since been made in the investigation. News Room understands that although the call was made since Sunday, it was today that the police were able to trace the origin of the call to the Lusignan Prisons.

Director of Prisons (ag), Gladwin Samuels told the News Room that it was only today that he became aware of the development when he was contacted by the police who enquired about the prisoner.
